Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee Meeting -- 3/15/2023

Discussion took place regarding funding of municipal government facilities and silo’ing off of government committees, and the challenges behind that. (Ex. Public works and Sewer/Wastewater management having some degree of separation, lack of info)
Discussion on turning bi-Monthly Committee into a Monthly Committee
Some members were skeptical over whether more meetings would equal more productivity
Online Meetings, As-needed votes and meetings were floated as ideas.
John Mott mentioned being more reactive or proactive to town council
Amanda suggested as-needed meetings
Vote will be put on Agenda for next BPC Meeting
Every commercial development needs to be presented to the Summerville Commercial Design Review Board, Gene suggested that Bike/Walk has an opportunity to have public input
Town Funding Priority List Discussion
Due to new funding, the group is still needing to be made to decide on on Priority List
Consideration of Eric Epstein’s mapping work on his vision from the Town of Summerville, into the Priority List
Proposed meeting next month could include Priority List Prioritization and Revisions
Gene suggested the Committee goes bigger and make 7-8 items for the Priority List, w/ John suggesting that we have a “short-term” and “long-term” list item

Restart GIS Sidewalks
Original Premise is to document sidewalks within the town of summerville w/ GIS Software
This would collaborate with the Stormwater Management of the town to get the data to be a good tracker for the town’s progress on other

BGM3: Yellow Blinking Lights discussion on different parts of the trail.
Public Comment
Bike/Walk asked for consideration of having temporary bike racks at the Farmer’s Market for those to be able to park their bike, would also help in preparation for the slow-roll BWS is preparing.
